Rail Traffic between Lelle and Viljandi to Be Restored Soon
Repairs on the Lelle-Türi railway section have progressed as planned and from June 8, it will be open for rail traffic again. Additional departures will also be included to restore the normal schedule on the Tallinn to Rapla, Türi, and Viljandi route.
“For more than a month, we’ve had to use replacement buses between Lelle and Viljandi, the happier we are now to be able serve our passengers again fully with trains starting from Monday,” said Ronnie Kongo, Elron’s Sales and Development Manager. “As the repairs are still in progress and speed on that section is limited, you’ll need to keep in mind that the journey times are a couple of minutes longer and the departure times have changed. Rail traffic will be faster at the end of the year.”
Ronnie Kongo added that although work will continue for a while, starting from June 8 passengers can be served from Tallinn all the way to Viljandi with trains across the entire journey. “That’s why we’ll also add departures on the schedule – from Monday, you can get from Tallinn to Viljandi again five times a day, to Türi nine times, and to Rapla 17 times a day.”
The schedules are available on Elron’s website at www.elron.ee and on the platforms, free train information is also given on the 24/7 information number 616 0245.
